June 11 Gordes

It's been about 2 weeks since I've had any time to update my blog.  I have now finished the 29-day trip from Paris to the south of France and am now in my first Wwoofing experience.  I'm spending 4 days with a retired couple, Nicole and Claude Helbert who live in the Department of Mayenne (53), as they told me, neither belonging to Brittany nor Normandy but somehow with its own flavor.  But in any case, I was welcomed with open arms to their beautiful farm.  But, that's a story for another day.

On the voyage back to Paris, somewhere along the way, I couldn't log on to my computer on WIFI.  The last day before Joe's trip back to the States and the start of my Wwoofing (World Wide Organization of Organic Farmers), I went to a FNAC (big electronic store) to see what was wrong with my computer and also buy a French phone.  I ended up paying 30 euros to the geek squad to find out I had inadvertantly shut off the WIFI port - ugh!

Here at the Helbert's I ended up with a day alone giving me time to try to figure out the problem with my pictures uploads.  I think after spending an hour this morning I had simply dialed up the pictures by last time looked at instead of by the # of the picture.  Then just now I couldn't find out how to get into edit my blog, but after "fiddling" for a few minutes, I figured it out.  Technology!  How I hate and love it at the same time.  But I have to remember that just over a month ago, I had no clue how to make a blog and only did it with the help of my daugher-in-law.

So, here, I think, will be June 11 - trip to Gordes in the Luberon.  From around the bend in the road on the approach, is the best view I have seen of France's "hanging" villages.  See what you think.  We actually visited the town before seeing this village as the pull-over site to see the village before arriving there had all the cars the tiny parking place could hold.  If I have time later, I'll put up some pictures of the actual village.

There were a couple of American teachers there at the same time, and they offered to take our pictures at this most impressive vantage point.

Valley right of the town
